The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a significant increase in Parent-Teacher Council (PTC) grants for public schools and introduced a revised funding structure aimed at improving school facilities and educational management.
The provincial cabinet approved the division of grants into three new categories to ensure more effective utilization of funds and better support for schools across the province.
Under the revised framework, the classroom consumables grant has been increased from Rs6,000 to Rs13,000 per classroom. Similarly, the repair grant has been raised from Rs7,000 to Rs16,000 per classroom, providing schools with additional resources for maintenance and operational needs.
In a new initiative, the government has also introduced a per-student capitation grant of Rs300. The measure is intended to encourage higher student enrollment and improve attendance rates in public schools.
Officials said the provincial government has allocated Rs6.185 billion annually for PTC grants. The Finance Department has already released Rs3.073 billion for the third and fourth quarters of the current fiscal year.
According to the allocation details, Rs2.7387 billion has been earmarked for settled districts, while Rs334.2 million has been released for merged districts.
Authorities confirmed that the latest release of funds has completed 100 percent disbursement of PTC grants to schools, ensuring that educational institutions receive the financial support approved under the program.
The move is expected to strengthen school infrastructure, improve learning environments, and support broader efforts to enhance education standards across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
