Punjab Launches Libraries on Wheels Project in Lahore Schools to Promote Learning

The Punjab education authorities have launched a new initiative called “Libraries on Wheels.” The project aims to improve reading habits in government schools across Lahore.

Officials said the project will also promote digital learning among students. The Punjab government wants to modernize education through better access to resources.

The initiative is estimated to cost Rs. 198 million. It will introduce a mobile library system in selected government schools in Lahore.

Under the plan, 85 electric vehicles will be purchased. These vehicles will be converted into mobile libraries. Each vehicle will carry books and digital learning tools.

Every mobile library will also include 20 modern tablets. A large LED screen will be installed in each vehicle. These tools will support interactive learning activities.

Officials said each mobile library will visit one school per day. A fixed schedule will ensure all schools receive equal access.

The Punjab education department said the vehicles will be charged daily. Charging stations will be installed inside selected schools.

The project is designed to promote a reading culture among students. It will also improve the overall quality of education in public schools.

Authorities in Punjab believe the initiative will help reduce learning gaps. It will also support students with limited access to digital tools.

CEO Tariq Mahmood said modern technology will be used in the project. He added that students will benefit from both books and digital content.

He said the goal is to make learning more engaging and interactive. The Punjab government expects the project to support thousands of students.

Education officials said the program combines traditional reading with modern digital methods. This approach aims to improve student performance in schools.

The District Education Authority said the project will be monitored closely. Feedback from schools will be used to improve its performance.

Officials added that if the project is successful, it may be expanded to other districts in Punjab. This could help more students benefit from mobile learning systems.
