Sahibzada Farhan Gets the Big Role as Pakistan Names Asian Games Team

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the national squad for the Asian Games 2026, with Sahibzada Farhan appointed as captain of the men’s cricket team.

The Asian Games will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. The men’s T20 cricket competition will feature 10 teams and take place at Korogi Athletic Park in Aichi Prefecture.

The cricket event is scheduled to begin on September 24. The medal matches will be played on October 3 as teams compete for a place on the podium.

Sahibzada Farhan, who is 30 years old, brings valuable experience to the side. He has represented Pakistan in 46 T20 International matches and scored 1,305 runs. His record includes two centuries and 10 half-centuries, making him one of the most experienced players in the squad.

The PCB has also named Abdul Samad as vice-captain. The right-handed batter has already appeared in five T20Is for Pakistan and will support Sahibzada Farhan in leading the team during the tournament.

The 15-member squad includes a mix of experienced players and emerging talent. Four players selected for the Asian Games squad are still waiting for their T20I debut. These players are Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Maaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood.

Their inclusion highlights Pakistan’s focus on developing young talent and providing opportunities at a major international event.

Another notable point is that 14 of the 15 selected players are currently part of the National Cricket Academy’s White-Ball Camp. The training camp is scheduled to begin in Lahore on June 15 and will help players prepare for upcoming assignments.

The squad features several well-known names, including Abrar Ahmed, Saim Ayub, Haider Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Arafat Minhas and Usman Khan. The team management hopes the combination of youth and experience will produce strong performances in Japan.

With Sahibzada Farhan leading the side, Pakistan will aim to make a strong impact at the Asian Games and challenge for a medal in the T20 competition.
