PIA Restarts Direct Beijing Flights After Years, Boosting Travel

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the resumption of its direct flight service between Islamabad and Beijing from July 3, 2026, restoring an important air link between the capitals of Pakistan and China.

The Islamabad-Beijing-Islamabad route is being revived in response to growing demand from students, business travelers, tourists, and families seeking more convenient travel options between the two countries. The direct connection is expected to significantly reduce travel time compared to indirect routes.

According to PIA, the service will offer passengers improved connectivity, competitive fares, generous baggage allowances, and a more comfortable travel experience. The move is being viewed as a major step toward enhancing people-to-people contacts between the two friendly nations.

The announcement has been welcomed by Pakistani and Chinese students pursuing higher education abroad. Educational institutions, student organizations, and travel industry stakeholders have described the timing as particularly beneficial, with new academic sessions and the busy summer travel season approaching.

Industry experts believe the restored route will facilitate easier travel for students, researchers, academics, and professionals while strengthening educational and cultural exchanges. The service is also expected to support tourism and family travel by providing greater flexibility and convenience.

Travel agencies have reported strong interest from passengers following the announcement, reflecting the importance of direct connectivity between the two capitals. PIA management stated that the airline remains committed to supporting cooperation in tourism, trade, education, and cultural exchange while contributing to stronger ties between Pakistan and China.
