Pakistan has received its third liquefied natural gas shipment from Qatar in less than two weeks, providing additional support to the country’s strained energy supply system during the peak summer season and ongoing regional tensions affecting global energy routes.
According to officials, the LNG tanker “Fuwairat” safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz before entering Pakistani waters and heading toward the Engro LNG terminal. The vessel is expected to berth at the terminal on May 26 or 27, 2026, where the unloading process will begin.
Energy officials also confirmed that another LNG cargo vessel is scheduled to arrive in the coming days and will dock at the Pakistan GasPort Consortium Limited terminal. Authorities are closely monitoring incoming shipments to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability across the country.
The latest LNG delivery reflects Islamabad’s continued efforts to maintain stable energy supplies during rising electricity demand caused by extreme summer temperatures. Officials say the government is prioritizing fuel imports to avoid shortages and support power generation needs nationwide.
The arrival of “Fuwairat” marks the third consecutive LNG shipment received from Qatar within a short period. Earlier this month, the LNG carrier “Mehzam” delivered nearly 160,000 cubic meters of liquefied gas to the PGPL terminal at Port Qasim on May 15.
Just two days before that shipment, another Q-Flex LNG vessel, “Al Kharaitiyat,” reached the Engro terminal on May 13. Energy experts say the steady flow of LNG cargoes highlights Pakistan’s heavy reliance on long-term agreements with Qatar, especially as global spot market prices remain unstable due to geopolitical uncertainty, shipping security concerns, and tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
