Direct Flights Between Iraq and Pakistan Resume After 86-Day Suspension

Iraq Airways has resumed Direct flights between Iraq and Pakistan after an 86-day suspension. The first flight from Baghdad landed in Karachi early this morning.

The airline’s flight IA-409 arrived in Karachi at 4:53am. It carried passengers and marked the official return of Direct flights on this route.

Officials confirmed that the return flight, IA-410, departed from Karachi at 7:14am. This completed the first restored operation cycle of Direct flights between the two cities.

The route had been suspended for nearly three months. The last direct arrival from Baghdad took place on February 28. Earlier, flight IA-409 had last landed in Karachi on February 15.

Two additional flights scheduled for early May were also cancelled. This led to a complete halt in Direct flights between the two countries during that period.

With the latest operation, Direct flights between Baghdad and Karachi have officially resumed. The development is expected to improve travel convenience for passengers.

The restoration is also expected to reduce travel time for passengers. Many travelers previously relied on connecting flights through other countries.

Passengers have welcomed the return of Direct flights. They said the route is important for family visits and work-related travel.

The resumption may also support trade and religious travel between the two countries. Aviation officials see it as a positive step for regional connectivity.

Iraq Airways has also announced plans to expand services further. Flights between Baghdad and Islamabad are expected to begin soon.

If launched, the new route would increase travel options for passengers in northern Pakistan. It would also strengthen aviation links between Iraq and Pakistan.

Officials have not yet shared a long-term schedule for the route. However, operations are expected to stabilize in the coming weeks.

The return of Direct flights highlights improving coordination between aviation authorities. It also reflects efforts to restore international connectivity after a long suspension.

Travel industry observers say the move will benefit both tourism and business travel. It is also expected to increase passenger flow between the two countries.
