The Palm Vista mega fraud case has once again come into focus after authorities arrested a key suspect from the United Arab Emirates through a joint international operation involving Interpol.
According to officials, the National Accountability Bureau worked closely with the Federal Investigation Agency and Interpol’s Pakistan National Central Bureau to secure the arrest of Muhammad Qasim Khan, who had remained absconding in the high-profile housing fraud case for a long period.
Authorities confirmed that Interpol Abu Dhabi arrested the suspect on May 20, 2026, after action was taken on a Red Notice issued under Pakistan’s anti-corruption laws. UAE authorities have now started formal extradition proceedings and requested Pakistan to provide complete legal and judicial documents, including certified English and Arabic translations, through diplomatic channels to the UAE Ministry of Justice.
The Palm Vista scandal is considered one of the major housing fraud cases in recent years. Investigators claim that hundreds of citizens were cheated through illegal housing schemes, fake promises, unauthorized plot allocations, and misleading advertisements.
Officials estimate that the fraud caused financial losses exceeding Rs1.4 billion, while nearly 295 victims were directly affected after investing their savings into the housing project.
Earlier in the investigation, two other accused directors, Mahmoud Tariq and Amer Azeem, had already been arrested. However, Muhammad Qasim Khan was considered the main fugitive in the case and was believed to be operating from abroad before his arrest in the UAE.
Authorities described the arrest as a major breakthrough in the Palm Vista investigation. The operation also highlighted growing cooperation between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates in dealing with international financial crimes and fraud cases.
The extradition process is now underway, and officials expect the suspect may soon be brought back to Pakistan to face legal proceedings.
The case involves several accused individuals who allegedly fled the country after the fraud came under investigation. Authorities say the latest arrest is an important step toward providing justice to affected citizens who suffered heavy financial losses in the Palm Vista housing scam.
