LHC Revises Eid ul Azha Holiday Schedule for Courts

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has revised its earlier announcement regarding Eid ul Azha holidays for courts across Punjab, adding an extra day to the previously issued schedule. The updated decision changes the duration of court closures across the province.

According to a notification issued on May 21, the Eid ul Azha holidays will now be observed from May 26 to May 28. This replaces the earlier schedule, which had set holidays only for May 27 and May 28, effectively extending the break by one additional day.

The revised holiday schedule will apply to the Lahore High Court principal seat as well as its allied benches in Bahawalpur, Multan, and Rawalpindi. All civil and sessions courts across Punjab will also follow the updated notification issued by the court administration.

The decision was made with the approval of the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, who partially modified an earlier notification issued on December 23, 2025. Officials said the revision aligns the judicial holiday schedule with the broader Eid ul Azha observance period.

Legal observers note that such adjustments are common ahead of major public holidays, ensuring administrative coordination across courts while allowing judges, lawyers, and staff adequate time during religious festivals. Court operations are expected to resume normally after the revised holiday period ends.
