Germany Announces Fully Funded Master’s Scholarships for Students

German Academic Exchange Service has opened applications for the prestigious Helmut-Schmidt Program, offering fully funded scholarship opportunities for international students who want to pursue master’s degrees in Germany.

The scholarship program, officially known as the Master’s Scholarships for Public Policy and Good Governance (PPGG), is aimed at students interested in fields related to governance, leadership, and public service.

According to officials, the scholarship is specially designed for graduates from disciplines such as social sciences, political sciences, law, economics, public policy, and public administration. The program targets individuals who are motivated to contribute to democratic development and good governance in their home countries after completing their studies.

The scholarship is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and focuses on preparing future leaders for careers in public administration, policymaking, and international governance.

Selected students will have the opportunity to study at some of Germany’s leading universities through seven participating master’s programs. These programs cover several important fields, including public policy, development studies, nonprofit management, and peace and conflict studies.

One of the major highlights of the scholarship is its strong emphasis on leadership development, governance training, and international networking opportunities alongside academic education.

Students selected under the scholarship program will also receive additional support services. These include preparatory German language courses, career guidance, and professional development opportunities to help scholars adjust to life and studies in Germany.

Officials said the application deadline for the 2026 intake is July 31, 2026. Interested candidates are required to submit their applications through the official DAAD scholarship portal.

The fully funded scholarship program is expected to attract students from different countries who are interested in advancing their education and contributing positively to governance and development in their societies.
