Pakistan national cricket team has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia national cricket team, which will begin on May 30.
The ODI series will be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore from May 30 to June 4. Cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the series as both teams prepare for competitive matches ahead of future international tournaments.
The national selection committee included several experienced players in the squad while also giving opportunities to new talent. Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas, and Rohail Nazir have been selected for the ODI squad for the first time and are yet to make their debut in the format for Pakistan.
Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to captain the side during the series. Senior players Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan, and Sufyan Moqim have also returned to the squad after missing the previous ODI series against Bangladesh earlier this year.
Muhammad Ghazi Ghori and Rohail Nazir have been selected as wicketkeeper-batters after Usman Khan was ruled out because of illness. Meanwhile, Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub were not considered for selection due to injuries. Both players are currently continuing their rehabilitation programs under the supervision of the PCB medical team.
The Pakistan squad will gather in Islamabad and begin training sessions under the coaching staff from May 23. On the other hand, the Australian team is expected to arrive in Islamabad on May 23 and will also hold practice sessions at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium before the series begins.
The squad includes Shaheen Shah Afridi, Salman Ali Agha, Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Sahibzada Farhan, and several young emerging players.
