Big Change Coming for Passport Applicants in Pakistan—Here’s What’s Planned

The government is preparing to launch a new Passport home delivery service across Pakistan. The initiative aims to modernize public services and improve convenience for citizens. It will help applicants receive documents at their doorstep.

Officials from the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports confirmed that the Passport delivery system is currently in the planning stage. The service is designed to reduce unnecessary visits to passport offices.

Under the proposed system, applicants will receive their Passport at home after paying a small courier fee. The delivery will be handled through a selected courier company. The process is expected to improve efficiency and service quality.

Director General Muhammad Ali Randhawa said the new system will make passport services more convenient. He added that citizens should not face long waits or repeated office visits. The focus is on accessibility and ease of use.

The Passport home delivery service will first be launched within Pakistan. It will initially cover major cities and selected remote areas. Officials said the rollout will begin once the courier agreement is finalized.

Authorities are currently in talks with a logistics company to manage nationwide delivery. Once the agreement is signed, Passport documents will be dispatched from Islamabad to applicants across the country. This central system will help ensure better tracking and faster delivery.

In the first phase, the service will only operate inside Pakistan. Overseas Pakistanis will be included in the second phase of the plan. This expansion will further improve global access to services.

Officials believe the new Passport delivery model will reduce pressure on passport offices. It will also help decrease waiting times and overcrowding. Applicants will no longer need to visit offices just for collection.

The initiative is part of a wider government plan to digitize and modernize public services. It focuses on transparency, efficiency, and citizen convenience. Cashless and digital systems will also support the new structure.
