Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired the 34th meeting of the provincial cabinet on Monday. The meeting approved several policy decisions, development projects, and administrative reforms across Punjab.
During the session, Maryam Nawaz focused on improving governance, public services, and economic opportunities. The cabinet reviewed key initiatives related to agriculture, infrastructure, transport, education, and social welfare.
One major approval was the launch of the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” scheme. This program targets residents of Cholistan and riverine areas. Officials said 30,000 plots have been identified under the scheme.
They also confirmed that around 200,000 families have already applied. Maryam Nawaz directed strict digital monitoring of the program. She said citizens must access all details easily through online systems.
The cabinet also approved summer vacations for schools from May 22 to August 24. This decision was taken to manage seasonal conditions and academic planning.
Maryam Nawaz also approved the expansion of Quaid-e-Azam Business Park Sheikhupura. The project will be expanded by 200 acres to support industrial growth.
Other decisions included lifting the recruitment ban in the Punjab Mass Transit Authority. The cabinet also approved reforms in disaster management systems and institutional restructuring of PDMA.
A major decision was the upgrade of UET sub-campus Narowal into a full university. The establishment of the Punjab General Insurance Company was also approved.
The cabinet further approved road rehabilitation projects in Sahiwal, Mianwali, and Faisalabad. Development schemes worth Rs500 million were also approved for Sheikhupura.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized timely execution of development projects. She instructed officials to avoid delays and ensure transparency in all approvals.
The meeting also approved relief measures for citizens. These include abolition of transfer fees for motorcycles up to 150cc and fuel subsidies for riders and farmers.
Institutional reforms were also introduced. These include new laws related to public safety, environmental protection, and transport management.
Maryam Nawaz stressed that industrial investors should be fully facilitated. She said Punjab must become a business-friendly province with fast approvals and reduced bureaucratic delays.
The cabinet also approved energy, transport, and environmental initiatives. These include electric vehicle policies and waste-to-energy projects.
