Cambridge Assessment International Education has cancelled the AS Level Mathematics paper (9709/12) after reports confirmed that the exam paper had been leaked. The examination board announced that the affected paper will not be counted toward students’ final grades.
According to Cambridge, students impacted by the leak will now appear in a replacement examination scheduled for June 9, 2026. The board clarified that no additional fee will be charged to either candidates or schools for the retake.
Officials stated that all students in the affected regions will be required to sit the new exam to ensure fairness and maintain the integrity of the assessment process. Despite the disruption, Cambridge confirmed that the official result announcement date of August 11, 2026, will remain unchanged. Schools are expected to receive complete instructions and further details regarding the retake process by May 15.
Cambridge has also initiated a formal investigation into the paper leak and said it is working closely with law enforcement authorities to identify those responsible. The examination body emphasized that strict action will be taken against individuals involved in leaking or distributing confidential exam material.
In addition, Cambridge warned that candidates or groups found sharing examination content online could face severe penalties, including permanent bans from future exams. Authorities are also taking action against social media accounts and groups accused of selling fake or leaked papers to students.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and fair assessment standards, Cambridge urged students to remain focused on their upcoming examinations and avoid relying on unofficial or misleading material circulating online.
