The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has officially resumed passport issuance operations for Pakistani citizens around the world after a four-day suspension caused by technical issues. The disruption had affected thousands of applicants seeking passport-related services through Pakistani embassies and consulates in multiple countries.
According to officials, the temporary suspension impacted services in several regions, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and various European nations. Applicants had reported delays in passport processing, renewals, and other related procedures due to technical faults linked to the central passport system.
Director General of Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa confirmed that the technical problem at Passport Headquarters has now been fully resolved. Following the restoration of the system, Pakistani diplomatic missions across the world began informing citizens about the resumption of normal passport operations.
The Embassy of Pakistan in Saudi Arabia also announced the restoration of services through its official social media platforms. In its statement, the embassy informed citizens that passport services had resumed from May 5, 2026, and applicants could once again visit the embassy for all passport-related matters without interruption.
Officials stated that the restoration of services is part of broader efforts to modernize Pakistan’s immigration and passport infrastructure. Under the directives of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the vision of DG Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa, authorities are working toward a fully digitized passport and immigration framework.
The upgraded digital system is expected to improve transparency, operational efficiency, and public access to services. Citizens will now be able to track passport applications and immigration processes online more easily, helping reduce delays and improve communication with applicants both inside Pakistan and abroad.
