Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Sunday reviewed key infrastructure developments in Karachi and instructed authorities to accelerate progress on the BRT Red Line project while maintaining strict standards of quality and transparency.
Accompanied by provincial ministers, the Karachi mayor, and senior officials, the chief minister inspected the BRT Red Line corridor from Peoples Chowrangi to Safoora Chowrangi. He later visited Pahalwan Goth to evaluate ongoing rehabilitation work on major traffic routes linked to the project.
Officials briefed him that construction activities, including repair work, patchwork, and rehabilitation of mixed-traffic lanes along University Road, are currently in progress. They also informed him that road widening work is being carried out to improve traffic flow in the area connected to the BRT Red Line network.
During the inspection, the chief minister expressed concern over the frequent water accumulation problem at Nipa and instructed relevant departments to develop a permanent solution. He emphasized that such issues should not delay the progress of the BRT Red Line or inconvenience citizens.
He was further informed that asphalt overlay work on several sections is being completed during nighttime hours to minimize disruption for commuters and maintain smoother daytime traffic.
Murad Ali Shah directed all concerned departments to ensure visible and continuous progress on the BRT Red Line, stressing that work should be carried out in multiple shifts to meet deadlines efficiently and provide relief to the public.
In addition, the chief minister inspected the under-construction Azeempura flyover located in Shah Faisal Colony. He instructed authorities to complete the project within 90 days, highlighting the importance of timely delivery of infrastructure projects for improving Karachi’s urban mobility.
Overall, the visit underscored the government’s focus on accelerating the BRT Red Line and related development works to enhance public transport and infrastructure in the city.
