The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has taken notice of slow internet issues in several parts of the country. The regulator has directed internet service providers to improve their performance immediately.
According to officials, PTA identified slow internet speeds in 31 major cities. The affected areas also include Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The findings are part of the Quality of Service assessment for fixed-line broadband networks. This report covers the first quarter of 2026.
The PTA evaluation checked Broadband Service Providers against key performance indicators. These included network availability, latency, and jitter performance.
Most service providers met basic quality standards. However, the report highlighted several weak points in network performance.
The PTA noted that heavy internet usage during peak hours is causing congestion. This has led to slower speeds and a poor user experience for many consumers.
The report also mentioned increased latency in both local and international connections. This indicates issues in routing systems and backbone infrastructure.
Due to these problems, PTA has instructed all concerned internet service providers to take immediate corrective action. They have been asked to improve network stability and speed.
Officials said the goal is to ensure better internet quality across Pakistan. The regulator is also focusing on long-term improvements in broadband services.
The PTA emphasized that service providers must comply with Quality of Service standards. Failure to do so may lead to further regulatory action.
Consumers in many cities have reported slow browsing, streaming delays, and unstable connections. These issues have increased concern about internet reliability.
The detailed QoS report for Q1 2026 has been made public on the official PTA website. It provides complete data on network performance across different regions.
Authorities say they will continue monitoring service quality closely. Regular assessments will help ensure better internet services in the future.
