The Punjab government has prolonged the enforcement of Section 144 across the province, continuing restrictions aimed at maintaining law and order. Alongside this extension, authorities have upheld a complete ban on the use of drones in open and public spaces.
Reports indicate that the Home Department has renewed the prohibition on outdoor drone operations for an additional 30 days, with the restriction now set to remain in place until May 25. Officials say the move has been taken in view of ongoing security concerns and the need to prevent any potential misuse of drone technology.
Despite the strict ban in outdoor areas, authorities have allowed limited use of small drones within enclosed venues such as wedding halls and marquees. This relaxation applies only to indoor events, where drones may be used under controlled conditions. In such cases, event organizers will be held fully responsible for ensuring that drones are operated safely and do not pose any risk to attendees or property.
Meanwhile, intelligence agencies and law enforcement bodies have been granted exemption from these restrictions, allowing them to use drones as required for official and security purposes.
The Punjab government has also instructed local administration and police departments to strictly enforce Section 144 and the associated drone ban. Officials have been directed to ensure full compliance with the orders and take necessary action against any violations to maintain public safety and security across the province.
