Pakistan Envoy Visits Yangzhou to Boost Investment and Agriculture Ties

Pakistan is taking new steps to strengthen its economic ties with China through high-level engagements and business cooperation. As part of these efforts, Pakistan’s ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, visited the city of Yangzhou to promote investment and agricultural collaboration.

During the visit, the Pakistan envoy met senior Chinese officials, including Party Secretary Wang Jinjian and Mayor Zheng Haitao. The discussions focused on enhancing trade relations and building stronger business-to-business connections. Both sides explored ways to expand cooperation under the Punjab–Jiangsu sister-province framework.

Pakistan is actively seeking to attract foreign investment and improve its agricultural sector. In line with this goal, the ambassador visited FAMSUN, a leading firm in integrated agricultural solutions. He also attended a forum where representatives from major agriculture companies shared ideas for future collaboration.

At the forum, Pakistan highlighted opportunities in agricultural modernisation. These include agro-processing, capacity building, and the use of advanced technology. Officials emphasized the need for improved farming methods and stronger supply chains to boost productivity.

Talks also covered plans to organise investment roadshows and exchange visits between businesses of both countries. Pakistan invited Chinese companies to participate in upcoming investment conferences. These events aim to promote sectors such as information technology, new energy, construction, and advanced materials.

Both sides agreed to use Yangzhou’s industrial strengths to expand cooperation. The city is known for its development in agriculture, manufacturing, and energy storage systems. Officials believe this partnership can benefit both economies.

Pakistan also stressed the importance of innovation in agriculture. At the China-Pakistan Agricultural Modernisation and Food Security Forum, the ambassador highlighted the country’s focus on mechanisation and modern farming techniques. He encouraged Chinese firms to invest in areas like precision agriculture, digital farming, and cold-chain logistics.

Yangzhou, located near the Yangtze River, is a major industrial and economic hub in Jiangsu province. With a strong economy and advanced infrastructure, it offers valuable opportunities for partnership.
