Ghee and Cooking Oil Prices Surge in Pakistan Amid Market Pressure

Prices of essential kitchen items have risen sharply in Pakistan, with Cooking Oil and ghee reaching their highest levels in the open market. The increase is adding financial pressure on households, even as flour prices show a slight decline.

According to recent market data, first-grade ghee is now being sold at around Rs590 per kilogram. At the same time, Cooking Oil prices have climbed to approximately Rs595 per kilogram. This marks a noticeable rise compared to previous weeks and reflects ongoing market fluctuations.

Second-grade ghee is available at Rs540 per kilogram, while third-grade ghee is being sold at Rs470 per kilogram. Despite these variations, the overall trend shows that both ghee and Cooking Oil remain expensive for average consumers. Experts say rising costs of raw materials and supply challenges may be contributing factors.

In contrast, there has been some relief in flour prices. Private companies have reduced rates in several markets. A five-kilogram bag of flour has dropped by Rs70 to Rs100 in different areas. This reduction has provided limited support to households managing daily expenses.

At major departmental stores, a five-kilogram flour bag is currently priced at around Rs790. However, smaller retail shops are still selling the same quantity at higher rates, reaching up to Rs830. This difference highlights the uneven pricing trends across markets.

Analysts say the mixed movement in essential goods reflects ongoing instability in the market. While flour prices are easing slightly, the continuous rise in Cooking Oil and ghee is a major concern. These items are basic household necessities, and any increase directly affects daily budgets.

Consumers have expressed concern over the rising cost of living. Many households are struggling to balance expenses as food prices remain unpredictable. The rising demand and supply issues continue to influence Cooking Oil prices in particular.

Market experts believe that prices may remain unstable in the coming weeks. They suggest that government monitoring and better supply management could help control further increases.

Overall, the surge in Cooking Oil and ghee prices highlights the challenges faced by consumers. While some relief is seen in flour, the rising cost of other essentials continues to impact household finances.
