JD Vance Islamabad Visit Cancelled amid Escalating Iran Conflict

US Vice President JD Vance’s planned visit to Pakistan has been put on hold due to rising uncertainty surrounding Iran’s participation in key negotiations scheduled in Islamabad.

Vance was expected to travel early Tuesday, but the trip was suddenly cancelled. Instead, he remained in Washington to attend urgent high-level policy discussions at the White House. Officials confirmed the schedule change but did not provide detailed reasons, citing ongoing internal consultations.

Meanwhile, Tehran has yet to confirm whether it will send a delegation for the proposed talks with the United States. This lack of clarity has placed the entire diplomatic initiative in doubt, raising questions about whether the Islamabad discussions will take place at all.

The situation unfolds amid escalating geopolitical tensions. Donald Trump has issued strong warnings, stating that military action remains a possibility if diplomatic efforts fail. He has also opposed extending the current ceasefire, which is nearing its expiration, further increasing pressure on all sides involved.

Earlier, Trump adopted a firmer stance, asserting that Iran has no option but to participate in the talks. He expressed confidence that the United States could secure a favorable agreement and claimed that Washington already holds a dominant position in the broader conflict.

In pointed remarks, Trump suggested that without US military pressure, Iran would take decades to recover its capabilities. He also warned that failure to reach a deal could trigger renewed military operations, emphasizing that US forces are fully prepared with sufficient resources.

Highlighting the urgency, Trump rejected calls for extending the ceasefire and stressed that time for diplomacy is limited. He argued that Iran is under mounting pressure and must engage in negotiations.

In a notable statement, Trump acknowledged that recent US actions targeting Iranian leadership have significantly shifted the political landscape, hinting at outcomes resembling regime change, while maintaining that such an objective was not originally intended.
