PKR Gains Against Dollar for 234th Consecutive Day

The Pakistani rupee continued its steady performance against the US dollar on Monday. The PKR gained one paisa in the interbank market.

The currency closed at around Rs. 277.40 against the US dollar. It had ended the previous session near Rs. 277.41.

This marked the 234th consecutive trading day of gains against the US dollar. The rupee has maintained this trend since December 25, 2025.

The latest movement remains marginal. However, the continued stability shows the rupee has remained relatively firm against the dollar.

According to market data, the PKR closed at 277.4018 per US dollar on September 7. The currency gained 1.13 paisas during Monday’s trading session.

PKR Performance Against Major Currencies

The rupee showed mixed performance against other major currencies.

The local currency weakened against the British pound. It lost around 13 paisas against the GBP during the session.

The PKR also declined against the Australian dollar. It lost around 56 paisas against the AUD.

The euro also strengthened against the Pakistani currency. The rupee lost around 34 paisas against the EUR.

In contrast, the Canadian dollar moved in the opposite direction. The PKR gained around 29 paisas against the CAD.

The rupee remained unchanged against the UAE dirham. It also stayed stable against the Saudi riyal.

Market data showed the euro closed at around Rs. 322.73. The British pound ended near Rs. 375.67.

The Australian dollar stood near Rs. 200.33. Meanwhile, the Canadian dollar closed around Rs. 200.69.

The UAE dirham remained at approximately Rs. 75.53. The Saudi riyal ended near Rs. 73.88.

Rupee Maintains Yearly Gains

The rupee has also posted gains over longer periods. The PKR has strengthened against the US dollar during the current fiscal year.

It has gained about 75.96 paisas, representing an increase of around 0.27 percent. On a calendar-year basis, the currency gained around Rs. 2.72.

That represents an appreciation of approximately 0.98 percent against the dollar.

The latest figures indicate continued stability in Pakistan’s foreign exchange market. The one-paisa daily gain remains small, but it extends the rupee’s long-running positive streak.

The exchange rate remains closely watched by businesses, importers, exporters, and consumers. Changes in the rupee can affect import costs and other economic activities.
