Rs2,000 Monthly Relief: Punjab Rolls out MajorB iker Subsidy Plan

In Lahore, key details have surfaced about the Punjab government’s ambitious subsidy plan aimed at providing financial relief to millions of bikers across the province. According to sources within the Excise Department, the government has sought an allocation of Rs24 billion from the provincial finance department to fund this large-scale initiative.

The finance department has already moved a summary forward for final approval by Maryam Nawaz. Once the proposal receives the green light, the funds will be released, paving the way for the official rollout of the subsidy program.

Estimates suggest that nearly 12.5 million bikers in Punjab stand to benefit from this initiative, with each eligible individual expected to receive a monthly subsidy of Rs2,000. In addition to this direct financial support, the government is also planning to ease fuel expenses by offering a subsidy of Rs100 per litre of petrol, significantly reducing commuting costs for daily riders.

The response to the scheme has already been substantial, as more than 8 million bikers have completed their registration so far. This reflects strong public interest and the widespread need for relief amid rising expenses. Historical data further highlights the scale of the initiative, with approximately 50 million motorcycles having been registered in Punjab since 1980.
