Ehsaas Fuel Support Scheme Eligibility for Rs2,000 Monthly Relief Explained

Rising fuel prices continue to put pressure on households across Pakistan. Despite a recent petrol price cut of Rs80 per litre by the federal government, many people still find fuel unaffordable. Global oil prices remain high due to tensions near the Strait of Hormuz and concerns about possible conflict involving Iran.

To provide relief, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched the Ehsaas Fuel Support Scheme. This initiative aims to help low-income citizens manage daily travel costs. Under the Ehsaas Fuel programme, eligible individuals will receive Rs2,000 per month as fuel assistance.

The scheme mainly targets owners of motorcycles, scooters, and rickshaws. These groups are among the most affected by rising transport expenses. Officials said the Ehsaas Fuel support will act as a financial lifeline for workers who rely on daily commuting for income.

Registration for the scheme opened on April 6. Authorities have encouraged eligible citizens to apply as soon as possible. The process is designed to ensure that support reaches those who need it the most.

To qualify, vehicles must be registered in the applicant’s name. The ownership transfer must also be complete. Vehicles that are unregistered or registered under someone else’s name will not be eligible. This condition aims to ensure transparency and fair distribution of funds.

Officials described the scheme as a direct response to inflation and rising fuel costs. They believe the initiative will reduce financial stress on low-income families. By supporting daily travel, the programme can help people continue their work and essential activities.

At the same time, the Punjab government has introduced a separate relief package. Under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, registered motorcycle owners can receive Rs100 per litre for up to 20 litres per month. Small farmers are also being supported with Rs1,500 per acre for diesel expenses.

This provincial effort complements federal measures led by Shehbaz Sharif, including the recent petrol price reduction. Additional support is also being extended to freight transport, buses, and Pakistan Railways.

Experts say these combined measures are important in the current economic situation. However, long-term stability will depend on global oil prices and regional conditions. For now, schemes like Ehsaas Fuel are expected to provide immediate relief to thousands of struggling citizens.
