The truth has emerged regarding a viral claim on social media that alleged schools would remain closed from April 6 to April 25 due to rising petrol prices. Authorities have now clarified that this information is false and misleading.
The Punjab School Education Department has firmly denied the circulating notification, stating that no such decision has been taken by the provincial government. Noor-ul-Huda, spokesperson for Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hyat, confirmed that the notification being shared online is “fake and fabricated.” He urged the public to rely only on verified announcements issued through official government platforms.
The spokesperson also advised citizens to avoid spreading unverified news on social media, as such rumors create unnecessary confusion and concern among parents and students. The department emphasized that any updates regarding school closures, timings, or academic schedules will only be communicated through official channels. For now, all educational institutions in Punjab will continue functioning as usual.
Earlier, the education minister had clarified the policy regarding Fridays, stating that instead of a full تعطیل, a “work from home” system will be followed. Under this arrangement, schools, colleges, and universities are allowed to conduct online classes, while the regular weekend on Saturday and Sunday remains unchanged.
The department has also introduced a revised schedule for schools. Single-shift institutions will operate from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm, double-shift schools from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm, and afternoon shifts from 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad have implemented a four-day working week, declaring Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as holidays to conserve fuel. Schools in these regions will now operate from Monday to Thursday, with extended hours to ensure syllabus completion.
