Karachi-Lahore Freight Rises to Rs14,000 Per Ton After Diesel Price Hike

Pakistan’s transport sector is facing serious pressure due to a sharp increase in Diesel Price. The recent rise has affected transporters, drivers, and consumers across the country. Many are now worried about further increases as global tensions continue to impact fuel markets.

The Diesel Price has increased by Rs184.49 per litre, reaching around Rs520.35. This sharp jump has made transport operations more expensive. As a result, freight companies are struggling to manage rising costs.

The All Pakistan Goods Transport Owners Association has announced a major hike in freight rates. According to the association, charges have increased by up to 40 percent nationwide. They stated that the rising Diesel Price has made business operations financially difficult.

Freight costs on major routes have already gone up significantly. Transporting goods from Karachi to Lahore now costs Rs14,000 per ton. Similarly, shipments from Punjab to Karachi have increased by Rs1,500 per ton. These changes show the direct impact of Diesel Price on logistics.

Transporters say that fuel costs, toll taxes, and maintenance expenses are all increasing. The high Diesel Price is making it harder to continue operations without raising charges. Industry leaders are now urging the government to review fuel prices.

Experts warn that the situation could affect the entire supply chain. Higher transport costs may lead to increased prices of daily goods. This could put additional pressure on consumers already facing inflation.

The impact is also visible in public transport. Fares have increased in several cities following the Diesel Price hike. In Rawalpindi, taxi and rickshaw fares have gone up by around 35 percent. Intercity bus fares in other areas have also increased by 25 to 30 percent.

Transport operators say it is not possible to reduce fares under current conditions. Both petrol and Diesel Price increases have added to their financial burden. Petrol has reached Rs458.40 per litre, further affecting costs.
