The Metro Bus service operating between Islamabad and Rawalpindi has reduced its operating hours under the government’s ongoing energy conservation plan.
According to the latest update, the Metro Bus will now stop operations at 9:00 pm, while all stations will be completely closed by 9:40 pm. Authorities confirmed that the final buses will depart at the same time from both Rawalpindi and Islamabad, ensuring a synchronized end to daily operations.
Officials explained that the decision has been taken in response to the continuing global petroleum shortage. However, they reassured the public that Pakistan’s overall fuel reserves remain stable and under control, despite international supply pressures. The move is aimed at reducing fuel consumption without significantly disrupting daily commuters who rely on the Metro Bus service.
Authorities further highlighted the importance of public cooperation during this period, emphasizing that collective effort and national unity are essential to overcoming current energy challenges. They reiterated that safeguarding the economic interests of citizens remains a top government priority.
