Petrol Price Update Govt Promises Stability for Citizens

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that Pakistan will not increase fuel prices this week, despite a rise in global oil rates.

Petrol will remain at Rs 321.17 per litre, while diesel will stay at Rs 335.86 per litre until the next review of petroleum prices. This decision is aimed at providing relief to citizens during challenging economic conditions.

The prime minister said the government is committed to reducing the burden on ordinary citizens. He added that geopolitical tensions worldwide are affecting the global economy, which could have significant consequences for Pakistan.

Sharif emphasized that the government is taking timely policy measures, implementing austerity, and practicing financial discipline to manage domestic economic challenges.

He also highlighted efforts to support lower-income groups. Cost-cutting measures are being implemented within the government and among the country’s elite. Provincial governments are cooperating with federal authorities to strengthen these austerity measures.

According to Sharif, Pakistan currently has sufficient crude oil supplies to meet domestic demand. He credited diplomatic and economic teams for ensuring stability in petroleum availability across the country.

Authorities are monitoring fuel retailers to prevent overcharging. No retailer is allowed to sell fuel above the government-notified prices. The prime minister expressed hope that global conditions will improve and that international petroleum markets will stabilize soon.

This decision provides temporary relief for citizens while balancing domestic needs with global market fluctuations. Analysts say keeping fuel prices stable will help maintain consumer confidence and ease inflationary pressure in Pakistan.
