Pakistan Revises Visa Policy for Foreign Nationals

Pakistan has introduced changes to its visa policy for foreign nationals as part of efforts to address evolving security concerns in the region. The decision was taken by the Ministry of Interior Pakistan to strengthen monitoring and verification procedures related to the entry of foreigners into the country.

According to official sources, the government has discontinued the facilities that previously allowed visitors to obtain visas on arrival or prior-to-arrival approvals. Under the revised visa policy, foreign nationals will now be required to obtain Pakistani visas through official diplomatic channels before traveling to the country.

With the new system in place, Pakistani visas will be issued exclusively by Pakistani embassies and diplomatic missions operating abroad. Authorities say this step is aimed at improving security checks and ensuring that applications are properly reviewed before permission to enter Pakistan is granted.

Officials within the Ministry of Interior explained that the move is primarily motivated by security considerations. By shifting the process entirely to diplomatic missions, the government hopes to strengthen the screening and verification mechanism involved in granting visas to international visitors.

Despite these changes, the government will continue to allow applicants to submit visa requests through the existing online application portal. However, under the updated visa policy, once an online application is submitted, it will be forwarded to the relevant Pakistani embassy or diplomatic mission responsible for the applicant’s region.

The embassy will then review the application and conduct the necessary security and administrative checks. Only after receiving approval from the concerned diplomatic mission will the visa be formally issued to the applicant.

Authorities emphasized that the entire visa processing framework will now operate through Pakistan’s diplomatic missions worldwide. This centralized approach is intended to ensure stricter scrutiny of applications and greater oversight before foreigners are granted entry into the country.

Through this revised visa policy, Pakistan aims to maintain tighter control over immigration procedures while responding to the region’s changing security environment.
