Pakistan has sufficient stocks of ghee and edible oil to meet domestic demand for the next two months, officials say. The announcement comes amid rising geopolitical tensions in the region, particularly following the US-Iran conflict.
Sheikh Umer Rehan, Chairman of the Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA), confirmed that the country’s supply of ghee and edible oil remains stable and secure. He emphasized that Pakistan will not face any shortages despite the uncertain international environment.
According to Rehan, local manufacturers currently have adequate supplies of both raw materials and finished products. This ensures that the domestic market can function smoothly without disruption. He also highlighted that several import consignments of edible oil and oilseeds are already on their way to Pakistan through maritime routes.
These shipments are scheduled to arrive at various ports across the country over the coming weeks. Once they reach Pakistan, the products will be promptly supplied to local industries and distributed in the market. Officials say this will further strengthen the existing supply and maintain market stability.
The PVMA chairman stressed that the industry is fully prepared to meet national consumption requirements. He assured citizens that both ghee and edible oil will remain available at fair prices, even in the face of potential supply chain challenges.
