The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) confiscated smuggled and illegal medicines valued at over Rs3 million during a raid in Quetta and arrested one suspect, officials confirmed on Thursday.
Deputy Director of the FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle, Fazlur Rehman, said the operation followed a tip-off about the sale of smuggled medicines at a local medical store in the provincial capital.
Authorities recovered a large quantity of medicines allegedly smuggled from neighbouring countries, including Iran and India. The arrested suspect has been identified as Waseem.
Officials estimated the total value of the seized medicines at more than Rs3 million. A case has been registered against the suspect under the Drugs Act, 1976, and further investigations have been launched to trace the entire supply network.
Fazlur Rehman emphasized that the FIA will continue its crackdown on individuals involved in the illegal sale and distribution of medicines, aiming to safeguard public health and prevent the circulation of substandard or unapproved drugs.
