The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has successfully recovered 43.11 acres of high-value land belonging to Pakistan Railways. The property is estimated at Rs. 9.671 billion, making this one of NAB’s major recent recoveries.
The land is located at Survey Numbers 48, 49, 50, and 51 in Deh Khanto Juma Goth. The recovery follows a long investigation that began on July 13, 2019, after allegations that private textile mills had encroached on government property.
Initially, the inquiry was temporarily closed following a Supreme Court ruling. However, in 2025, Pakistan Railways requested NAB to reopen the case. The investigation then focused on officials from the Railway and Revenue Departments, along with others involved in the ongoing encroachment.
Although Pakistan Railways claimed possession under Supreme Court orders in 2021, NAB’s findings showed that private mills still occupied the land. Through detailed investigation and persistent efforts, NAB completed the inquiry and restored the land to Pakistan Railways’ physical possession.
Officials described this recovery as a major achievement for NAB Karachi. The successful operation demonstrates the bureau’s professionalism, diligence, and commitment to protecting national assets. By returning high-value state land to the public sector, NAB reinforced its role in combating illegal occupation of government property.
