The wife of Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha has spoken out strongly against online abuse following Pakistan’s defeat to England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight stage.
Hours after England’s victory damaged Pakistan’s semi-final hopes, she posted a blunt message on Instagram, urging fans to stop targeting families. “Sending me or my innocent son abuse is not going to win you the World Cup Pakistani fans,” she wrote.
The backlash followed Pakistan’s loss to England cricket team, which significantly dented their qualification chances. As frustration grew online, criticism of the team’s performance quickly shifted toward personal attacks aimed at Agha and his loved ones.
While intense reactions are common during high-pressure tournaments, some users reportedly crossed the line with vulgar messages and even death threats directed at the captain’s family. Her response highlighted the recurring issue of online harassment spilling over to players’ relatives.
Adding to the controversy, some social media users allegedly labeled Agha and his wife as “English agents,” referencing her reported British-Pakistani background. Screenshots of her account were widely shared, with some attempting to publicly expose personal details.
Speaking after the match, Salman Ali Agha admitted Pakistan did not finish their innings as planned but credited England’s captain Harry Brook for an outstanding performance.
At the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pakistan set a target of 165 runs. However, Brook’s explosive 100 off 51 balls, including four sixes and 10 fours, guided England to a comfortable chase.
Despite the setback, Pakistan remains mathematically in contention for the semi-finals. The team must win its remaining match against Sri Lanka and depend on other results going in its favor to keep its campaign alive.
