The Government of Sindh has sanctioned Rs8.53 billion for the repair and carpeting of roads in Karachi, aiming to improve urban infrastructure and traffic flow in the city. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Syed Murad Ali Shah.
The cabinet approved recommendations presented by Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and cleared by the finance committee, marking a significant investment in the province’s road network.
Additional Financial Approvals
The provincial cabinet also endorsed other allocations, including:
- Rs7 billion compensation for victims of the Gul Plaza fire incident
- Rs1.57 billion for preserving a historic building on I.I. Chundrigar Road
- Rs5.20 billion grant for the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation
- Rs560 million to support Sindh Police operations in riverine (katcha) areas
- Rs900 million under Phase II of the People’s IT Program and youth training initiatives
Ramadan Price Control Measures
During the meeting, the chief minister directed authorities to ensure strict price control during the holy month of Ramadan. Assistant commissioners were instructed to actively monitor markets and guarantee the availability of essential commodities at officially notified rates.
The road repair initiative, along with these financial approvals, reflects the provincial government’s focus on infrastructure development, public safety, and consumer protection.
