The Meteorological Department has stated that the Ramazan moon may be sighted today. Officials noted the moon was born at 5:15 pm yesterday. By sunset today, the moon will be around 25 hours old, offering favorable conditions for visibility.
SUPARCO Prediction
The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) predicts the first fast of Ramazan will likely begin on February 19. At sunset, the moon’s age will be 25 hours and 48 minutes. Coastal areas will have nearly one hour between sunset and moonset, increasing visibility chances.

- Lahore: Meeting chaired by DG Shahid Hassan Kalyani. Cloudy weather may reduce sighting chances.
- Islamabad: Committee includes SUPARCO, meteorologists, and ministry representatives. Evidence will be sent to the central committee.
- Faisalabad & Sukkur: Moon sighting continues, with Sukkur reporting clear skies and bright chances.
- Karachi: Meeting held at the Meteorological Department, chaired by Hafiz Muhammad Salafi with scholars and SUPARCO representatives present.
Final Announcement
All zonal committees will forward verified testimonies to the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad will announce the sighting officially. If confirmed, Muslims across Pakistan will observe the first fast of Ramazan tomorrow.
