With the start of Ramadan, markets across the city have been transformed into festive Ramadan bazaars, attracting large crowds of shoppers seeking discounted essential items.
Popular markets, including the Harbanspura Ramadan Bazaar, are offering price relief on food staples amid rising inflation, helping citizens manage expenses during the holy month.
Authorities announced discounts of up to 10% on meat and other essential commodities. For example, sugar is being sold at Rs140 per kg in the bazaars, compared to Rs170 per kg in the regular market.
Flour is also available at reduced prices, with a 10 kg bag priced at Rs905 and a 20 kg bag at Rs1,808. Pulses and other grocery items are similarly offered at lower rates to support families during Ramadan.
Officials urged shoppers to take advantage of these bazaars while adhering to safety guidelines and maintaining orderly conduct in crowded markets.
