Bollywood superstar Salman Khan celebrated Raksha Bandhan with his family as he visited his sister Alvira Khan’s residence for the Hindu festival, sharing a glimpse of the close bond he maintains with his siblings.
The 60-year-old actor was spotted leaving Alvira’s home on Friday, August 28. Salman wore a maroon T-shirt, blue jeans and a cowboy hat during the family gathering.
Several colourful rakhis were visible on his wrist, while a tilak could also be seen on his forehead. The actor briefly stopped for photographers before leaving and raised his wrist to show the rakhis tied around it.
Khan family celebrates together
Salman’s younger sister Arpita Khan Sharma also shared moments from the Raksha Bandhan celebrations on her Instagram Stories.
In one video, Arpita was seen performing aarti for Salman before tying a rakhi around his wrist. Her daughter, Ayat, also took part in the celebrations and tied rakhis to her cousins Arhaan Khan, Nirvaan Khan and Ayaan Agnihotri.
The family gathering also included veteran actress Helen, who was seen arriving at Alvira’s residence along with other members of the Khan family.
The celebrations offered fans a glimpse into the private family gathering and the traditions followed by the Khan family during the festival.
Fans praise family’s message of harmony
Arpita’s social media post attracted considerable attention online, with fans focusing on the family’s diverse religious backgrounds.
Arpita is married to Hindu actor Aayush Sharma, while Salman comes from a Muslim family. A painting depicting Jesus was also visible in the background of one of the videos.
Several social media users described the celebration as an example of religious harmony and praised the family for coming together despite their different faith backgrounds.
The moment sparked positive reactions from fans who viewed the gathering as a reflection of family bonds and mutual respect.
Salman Khan’s family
Salman is one of five children of veteran screenwriter Salim Khan and Salma Khan. His siblings include actors Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, as well as sisters Alvira Khan and Arpita Khan Sharma.
Alvira is married to actor and producer Atul Agnihotri, while Arpita is married to actor Aayush Sharma.
Salman has remained unmarried despite several high-profile relationships throughout his career and continues to remain one of India’s most recognisable film stars.

Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival that celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters.
As part of the traditional celebration, sisters tie a rakhi, a sacred thread, around their brothers’ wrists as a symbol of love, affection and protection. Brothers traditionally give gifts to their sisters as part of the occasion.
For many families, the festival is also an opportunity to come together and celebrate sibling relationships.
Salman Khan’s upcoming projects
On the professional front, Salman Khan has several projects in the pipeline.
The actor is set to appear in Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, directed by Apoorva Lakhia and co-starring Chitrangada Singh. The project was previously titled Battle of Galwan and is inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash.
The film’s release date has not yet been announced.
Salman is also working on the upcoming project SVC63, which is being directed by Vamshi Paidipally. Nayanthara and Anil Kapoor are also part of the cast.
The Raksha Bandhan celebration comes as Salman continues to balance his busy professional schedule with appearances and gatherings involving his family.
