The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Peshawar on Wednesday to sight the Ramazan moon. The meeting will decide when the first fast will be observed in Pakistan.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has issued an official notification about the session. Officials say there is a strong possibility of moon sighting. If confirmed, Ramazan fasting could begin on Thursday.
The meeting will be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, who heads the committee. He said there are strong chances of sighting the moon. He also expressed hope that the first fast will be observed on the same day nationwide.
He stated that the final decision will follow Sharia guidelines. Testimonies from different parts of the country will be reviewed carefully. Only verified evidence will be accepted before announcing the start of Ramazan.
Along with the central meeting, zonal committees will gather in several cities. These include Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and Quetta. Each committee will collect moon sighting reports from its region.
All reports will be sent to the central body in Peshawar. The committee will review the evidence during the February 18 session. After evaluation, an official announcement will be made.
Meanwhile, the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission has shared its scientific assessment. According to its calculations, there is a strong chance of moon visibility on Wednesday. If this prediction proves correct, the first day of Ramazan will fall on Thursday.
Authorities have urged citizens to wait for the official declaration. They stressed that only the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee can confirm the beginning of Ramazan. The announcement will determine the start of fasting across Pakistan.
