The Punjab government has announced the launch of a new initiative, “Maryam Ko Batain,” to provide rapid financial assistance to needy families during the holy month of Ramazan. The program will officially begin on the first day of Ramadan, offering up to Rs10,000 to eligible individuals within 24 hours.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz confirmed in a social media post on X that a dedicated helpline (1000) will be activated on the first day of Ramadan. Citizens facing financial hardship can call this number to apply for the aid, ensuring quick disbursement.
Eligible individuals may also access the program through the government web portal or mobile app by entering their CNIC numbers. Those already registered under the Pakistan Social and Economic Relief (PSER) system will receive assistance within a day, while new applicants will undergo verification and registration, which takes up to four days.
The program aims to support struggling households during Ramadan, a month known for spiritual reflection, fasting, and charitable giving. Officials have stressed that the initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to provide timely social support.
The expected start of Ramadan is February 19, 2026, if Shaban lasts 29 days, or February 20, 2026, if Shaban spans 30 days. The official confirmation will be issued by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
