The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced that practical driving tests for Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV), Light Transport Vehicle (LTV), and Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licences will be temporarily suspended this week at the Police Lines Headquarters in H‑11, Islamabad. The pause in services is due to administrative reasons.
This temporary suspension will affect individuals scheduled for commercial driving tests, causing delays in obtaining HTV, LTV, and PSV licences. During this period, no practical testing will be conducted at the Police Lines centre, and applicants are advised to plan accordingly.
The Islamabad Traffic Police have encouraged licence applicants to use the DLIMS online portal, which offers detailed information on the application process, appointment scheduling, and tracking the progress of driving licence applications. This online resource aims to reduce inconvenience for drivers during the temporary halt of in-person testing.
Authorities reminded drivers that a valid driving licence is mandatory for operating any vehicle in Islamabad. They also highlighted that traffic regulations continue to be strictly enforced, and violations can result in fines and penalties.
In recent months, Islamabad authorities have intensified efforts to curb traffic violations across the city. Measures include strict monitoring of drivers, penalties for those operating vehicles without valid licences, and campaigns to raise awareness about road safety. These steps are part of a broader initiative to improve overall traffic discipline and protect both drivers and pedestrians.
The Islamabad Traffic Police assured the public that practical driving tests will resume once administrative matters are resolved, and they urged applicants to stay updated through official channels. In the meantime, the online DLIMS portal remains a convenient option for scheduling appointments and tracking licence applications, ensuring minimal disruption despite the temporary suspension.
