PNA Announces Prices Of Naan For Ramadan

The Pakistan Naanbai Association has announced that prices of roti and naan will remain unchanged until 30th Ramazan, despite sharp increases in the cost of flour, ghee, LPG, labor, electricity, and tandoor rents. The decision aims to provide relief to consumers during the holy month.

The resolution was passed by the association’s General Council, which includes representatives from Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Murree, Talagang, and nearby areas. The meeting was chaired by Central President Shafiq Qureshi, who highlighted the challenges faced by bakers amid rising input costs.

The association stated that after Eidul Fitr, prices would increase, with roti and naan becoming Rs. 5 more expensive. Paratha and roghni naan prices will see an increase of Rs. 10. Leaders explained that sustaining operations at current rates has become financially unsustainable due to escalating production costs.

According to the association, the price of a 79-kg flour bag has jumped from Rs. 7,600 to Rs. 11,700, while fine flour increased from Rs. 8,200 to Rs. 12,600. Additional hikes of up to Rs. 2,200 per bag are expected by the end of Ramazan.

Commercial LPG cylinder prices have surged to Rs. 16,000, with labor and electricity costs also rising significantly. The association criticized the district administration for failing to regulate input costs, warning that continued pressure could force tandoors to shut down after Eid.

The announcement provides temporary relief for households during Ramazan, but highlights the mounting challenges facing Pakistan’s traditional bread-making industry.
