With Basant just hours away, Lahore Police have set up a dedicated control room to monitor the city. The goal is to ensure safe celebrations for everyone.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations), Faisal Kamran, said more than 70 drones will be deployed to monitor activity across Lahore. Over 10,000 police officers and personnel are stationed in red, yellow, and green zones to manage crowds and enforce safety measures.
Kite flying will officially start after 12 midnight, allowing enthusiasts to participate under strict monitoring. Police have prohibited kite flying near the airport to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.
Authorities have issued strict warnings regarding motorcycles. Those without safety rods will face legal action, and vehicles may be impounded. These steps aim to reduce accidents during the festival.
The police have emphasized cooperation from the public to make Basant celebrations safe and enjoyable. Enhanced monitoring with drones and on-ground personnel will help manage the crowds and prevent violations.
The security plan highlights a coordinated effort to balance cultural celebrations with safety regulations. Faisal Kamran said that officers are fully prepared to respond quickly to any emergencies.
