Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI remains on schedule for release on November 19, 2026. The update came during the company’s latest earnings announcement, where executives stressed that there has been no change to the current development and launch timeline, despite earlier shifts to the game’s release window.
Grand Theft Auto VI was originally planned for a Fall 2025 launch before being delayed to May 26, 2026. That date was later moved again to November 19, 2026. Rockstar Games previously explained that the additional time was required to further polish the game and meet the studio’s quality standards, which have defined its major releases for years.
Take-Two Chief Executive Officer Strauss Zelnick also shared insights into the upcoming marketing strategy. In an interview with IGN, Zelnick said that marketing efforts for GTA VI will begin in earnest during the summer. He added that aligning marketing plans closer to release milestones reflects strong internal confidence in meeting the newly announced launch date.
Rockstar Games has a long history of delaying major titles to ensure quality, so multiple delays for GTA VI did not surprise industry observers. However, another public delay would be unusual. Historically, Rockstar has rarely postponed a game twice after officially announcing revised release dates, placing added importance on the current November 2026 target.
The game is launching amid extremely high market expectations. Projections suggest that GTA VI could sell up to 40 million copies and generate nearly $3 billion in revenue during its first year. Analysts have noted, however, that even a blockbuster release may not fully resolve wider structural challenges currently facing the global video game industry.
Alongside GTA VI updates, Take-Two also shared fresh sales figures for its existing franchises. Grand Theft Auto V sold an additional 5 million copies, pushing lifetime sales to 225 million units. Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption II added 3 million more sales, bringing its total to 82 million copies since its October 2018 launch.
