The Army Chief of Pakistan, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, met Libya’s Commander-in-Chief, Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and professional cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief welcomed Field Marshal Haftar upon his arrival. The discussions covered matters of mutual interest, including regional security, institutional development, and strengthening military ties. Emphasis was placed on improving collaboration between the armed forces of Pakistan and Libya.
The Army Chief reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting peace, stability, and institutional growth in Libya. He highlighted Pakistan’s willingness to assist in building strong security institutions and enhancing professional military cooperation in the region.
During the visit, the Libyan Commander-in-Chief paid tribute to Pakistan’s fallen soldiers by laying a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument at GHQ. This gesture symbolized respect for Pakistan’s military sacrifices and reflected shared values between the two nations’ armed forces.
Officials said the meeting highlighted Pakistan’s role in promoting regional stability through international military cooperation. Both sides agreed on the importance of continuing dialogue, exchanging expertise, and exploring joint training programs.
The visit also aimed to consolidate the strategic relationship between Pakistan and Libya, ensuring that both countries could work together on defense, security, and institutional development. The discussions emphasized professional cooperation as a key pillar of long-term bilateral relations.
