The federal government has declared February 5, 2026, a public holiday across Pakistan to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day. The announcement was made through an official press release issued by the Cabinet Division. The decision applies to the entire country.
According to the notification, all public and private offices will remain closed nationwide on that day. Government departments, educational institutions, and most businesses will observe the holiday. Essential services, however, will continue to operate as usual.
The federal government has also announced a one-minute silence at 10:00 am. Citizens across the country have been requested to observe the silence. The gesture is meant to pay tribute to the martyrs of Kashmir and show unity with the Kashmiri people.
Officials stated that the silence will be observed in offices, institutions, and public places. Special instructions have been shared with provincial administrations to ensure participation. The federal government emphasized that the observance reflects national solidarity.
Separately, the Sindh government has issued its own notification for the same day. The announcement was made by the Sindh Services, General Administration and Coordination Department. It confirmed that February 5 will be a public holiday across the province.
According to the Sindh notification, all government offices will remain closed. This includes autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies. Local councils and corporations under provincial control will also observe the holiday. Essential services will remain operational.
The Sindh government has also directed institutions to observe the one-minute silence at 10:00 am. Authorities said the instruction aims to ensure uniform observance across the province. Government departments have been asked to follow the directive strictly.
