Punjab Simplifies Biometric Process for Vehicle Verification

The Excise & Taxation Department Punjab has introduced a new initiative aimed at making vehicle verification simpler and more accessible for both local residents and overseas Pakistanis. The move is part of the government’s broader push toward digital services and improved public convenience.

In collaboration with NADRA, the department has enabled online biometric vehicle verification through the PAK-ID platform. Under this system, Pakistani citizens, including NICOP holders living abroad, can now complete vehicle verification digitally without visiting excise offices or relying on agents and middlemen. This marks a major shift toward paperless and hassle-free service delivery.

Previously, overseas Pakistanis faced a lengthy and complex procedure to verify vehicles registered in Punjab. They were required to submit attested affidavits, which had to be verified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Pakistani embassies abroad. This process involved multiple steps, added costs, and significant delays, often discouraging users and increasing dependency on third parties.

The newly launched PAK-ID biometric system has eliminated these manual requirements entirely. Vehicle owners can now complete the verification process from their homes by digitally confirming their identity through NADRA’s secure biometric platform. The system ensures accuracy while significantly reducing processing time and administrative hurdles.

Officials say the initiative will not only improve ease of access but also enhance transparency and efficiency within the Excise & Taxation Department Punjab. By minimizing human intervention, the risk of fraud, delays, and misinformation is also expected to decline.

The digital verification facility is particularly beneficial for overseas Pakistanis who manage assets and vehicles back home. It allows them to stay connected to official services without the need for physical presence in Pakistan.

Authorities believe this step will strengthen public trust, modernize vehicle-related services, and set the foundation for further digital reforms in Punjab’s excise system. Citizens are encouraged to use the PAK-ID platform to benefit from the faster and more secure vehicle verification process.
