Google Pixel Update Troubles After Latest Google Update

Google has released its January 2026 software update for Google Pixel smartphones. The update targets devices back to the Pixel 7a and aims to fix several long-standing problems. These include battery drain, flickering on the always-on display, and a wallpaper-related reboot bug.

Soon after the update, many Google Pixel users reported new issues affecting Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular connectivity. Users shared their complaints on Google’s support forums, Reddit, and X. Some reported that Bluetooth could not be enabled, preventing access to wearables and other accessories. Others said opening Wi-Fi settings caused blank screens or force-close errors, while some experienced mobile data problems that airplane mode toggles did not fix.

A smaller number of users also reported camera-related problems. The camera app reportedly runs in the background, stopping the flashlight from turning on.

Standard fixes, such as booting into safe mode, resetting Wi-Fi connections, or performing a factory reset, did not resolve the problems. Some users said Google support offered replacement devices, but it is unclear whether the issues are due to hardware or software.

The problems affect multiple Pixel generations, including the Pixel 8, Pixel 9, and Pixel 10 series, though not all devices are impacted. Some users reported normal performance after the update, showing the issue is not universal.

Temporary workarounds have been suggested. Some users restored connectivity by disabling Google Play Services. Others successfully sideloaded the January 2026 OTA update using the ADB tool. Google provides the OTA images on its support hub, but the process is technical and requires a backup.
