The FIA has launched a corruption inquiry against Najaf Hameed, the brother of former senior army officer and ex-DG ISI Faiz Hameed. The investigation concerns allegations of assets beyond known sources of income.
According to sources, the inquiry is being conducted by the FIA’s Anti-Corruption Cell. Authorities have requested details of Najaf Hameed’s assets from both public and private institutions. The State Bank of Pakistan has also been approached to provide information on his bank accounts.
Najaf Hameed’s name has reportedly been added to the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL). FIA teams have conducted raids at multiple locations to arrest him, but no arrest has been made so far.
This inquiry comes after a significant legal setback for Najaf Hameed. On Monday, a special central court in Islamabad canceled his interim bail in a fraud and land scam case. The court approved the FIA’s application to revoke the bail, ruling in favor of the prosecution.
FIA Special Judge Central Shah Rukh Arjumand announced the verdict. Najaf Hameed could not be taken into custody as he was not present in court at the time.
Earlier, the court had granted him bail based on a compromise between the complainant and the accused. The FIA later challenged this decision, arguing that bail granted on reconciliation grounds should be withdrawn. This prompted the court to re-examine the matter.
On January 21, 2026, the court heard the FIA’s application for bail cancellation. Najaf Hameed’s counsel requested more time to file detailed pleadings, and the hearing was adjourned to February 24. A copy of the bail cancellation application was shared with the defence.
Najaf Hameed had also received interim bail from a local Islamabad court earlier. He is facing multiple allegations of fraud and corruption. The FIA continues its investigation while legal proceedings move forward.
