OKARA, Jan 27 — A groom is facing legal action after a late-night wedding celebration caused disturbance in Punjab’s Haveli Lakha. Police confirmed that a First Information Report was registered early Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 1:30am in Mohalla Mandar, Haveli Lakha. According to the FIR, the groom hosted a wedding function with loud music and dancing.
Police identified the groom as Muhammad Qasim Rehmani, son of Ijaz Ahmed Rehmani. Officials said the event violated multiple provincial laws.
The FIR stated that obscene songs were played at a high volume during the gathering. Several people were also seen dancing at the event.
Authorities said the sound system remained active beyond permitted hours. Officials confirmed that the celebration broke the Punjab Sound Systems Regulation Act 2015.
The FIR also cited violations of the Punjab Marriage Functions Act 2016. These laws regulate wedding timings and noise levels.
Police added that some participants allegedly displayed weapons during the function. This led to additional charges under the Punjab Arms Amendment Ordinance 2015.
Section 294 of the Pakistan Penal Code was also included in the case. This section relates to obscene acts in public places.
The complaint was submitted by Chaudhry Saad-ul-Zaman Dogar. He serves as the Price Control Magistrate of the Municipal Committee of Haveli Lakha.
Police formally recorded the case at the local police station. ASI Ghulam Mohiuddin registered the FIR based on the written complaint.
Officials said the application was entered exactly as received. Copies were forwarded to Ali Raza, the in-charge investigation officer.
