The KP women’s Kabaddi Team was honored at the Government City Girls’ Degree College, Gulbahar, for winning a bronze medal at the 35th National Games. The event celebrated the team’s achievement and aimed to encourage students to engage in sports.
Professor Rabia Sikander, principal of the college, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. She was joined by Naseer Khan, president of the Provincial Kabaddi Association; Sultan Bary, its secretary; Arshad Hussain, secretary of the Provincial Throwball Association; Director of Sports Najma Naz Qazi; and a large number of students.
The medal-winning players were presented with specially designed shields and medals in recognition of their performance. Professor Sikander praised the Kabaddi Team for demonstrating courage, skill, and sportsmanship against strong departmental and provincial opponents.
She added that with improved facilities, ongoing coaching, and institutional support, the team has the potential to win gold medals in future competitions. She also emphasized that participation in sports helps students develop confidence, discipline, and leadership skills.
Director of Sports Najma Naz Qazi highlighted that most players on the Kabaddi Team are students of Government City Girls’ Degree College. She noted the growing interest in sports among students and praised the college for promoting athletic activities.
Representatives from the Provincial Kabaddi Association and the Provincial Throwball Association also addressed the gathering. They commended the athletes’ achievements and called for continued support for women’s sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
