Lahore is preparing to celebrate the Basant Festival, with authorities relaxing sound system rules for the event. The city will be decorated in bright yellow, reflecting the traditional spirit of Basant Festival.
Preparations are underway for kite sellers, manufacturers, and traders to participate. Registration is being conducted through the e-Biz portal. A total of 993 applications were received, out of which 650 were approved, 58 rejected, and 284 are still under verification.
For kite and string sales, 340 out of 530 applications were approved. Additionally, 218 kite makers have received permission to manufacture kites and strings for the festival. Officials emphasized that only registered vendors are allowed to participate in the Basant Festival celebrations.
To create a festive atmosphere, 23 major roads in Lahore will be decorated. Key roads include Ravi Toll Plaza, GT Road, Pine Avenue, Niazi Interchange, Azadi Chowk, Circular Garden, Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam, Shadman, and MM Alam Road. Citywide decorations are expected to attract both locals and tourists.
The administration stated that kite and string manufacturers could start preparations from December 30. Registered kite sellers are allowed to begin sales from February 1. Officials have urged all participants to follow safety guidelines during the Basant Festival.
